Friends of UKirk MTSU,
We've had a pretty good semester so far, following our regular program without much interruption. In fact, that's how we planned it! We are bad about cramming a lot into a fall semester (we aren't the only campus ministry guilty of that!). This year, however, we've found a balance, but things are speeding up before they slow back down. This coming Thursday we will gather at UKirk to eat and paint pumpkins! We'll also share our fears as we paint. Then Friday several of us will head to West Tennessee for UCamp @ Natchez Trace State Park, for our annual fall retreat!
Friends, we want to use most of this update to highlight a specific part of our weekly program: Monday Lunch!
Monday Lunch is a chance for students to pop in for a free, fresh meal, catch up with friends, or use the space for some quiet study time. We decided on Mondays for a couple of reasons. First, it's just a good way to kick off the week. We originally called it Fresh Start Lunch. Second, it conveniently fills a gap in the campus free food scene. Other student groups usually offer free meals on different days, so we make sure our hungry friends have options.
The truth is, food insecurity is a real issue on college campuses, MTSU included. While some students are fortunate, many juggle schoolwork with demanding jobs. They simply can't afford a healthy lunch every day. Monday Lunch is our small way of lending a hand and making sure no one goes hungry.
Each week we have 5-10 students come to the UKirk house between 11am-1pm for Monday Lunch. We even have some who pop by for leftovers throughout the rest of the week – and who can blame them? Running these lunches costs around $40-50 a week, which adds up to roughly $1,000 for the entire school year.
If you'd like to be a part of fueling students' bodies and fostering friendships at UKirk, we would love to have you partner with us with any contributions you feel led to give. A recurring donation of $10/month would pay for three Monday Lunch's over the course of a year.

Thanks for your continued support! We really couldn't do it without you.
Blessings,
